2009 Syrah
Columbia Valley

From an astonishing vintage the first 2009 wine to be released this year is our 100% Stillwater Creek Vineyard Syrah. Splitting our block in half this year,  harvesting the East side first on September 24th and picking the West side nearly 2 weeks later on October 6th,  we got a wonderful balance of fruit evolution in the vineyard. With the fruit being so compelling from these blocks, only 40% was matured in new French oak. The remaining 60% spent  21 months maturing in barrels (2nd used) that were also used for the 2007 Syrah.

With incredible aromas of sweet fruits, violets, and mocha, this wine has a super smooth palate, opulent fruit and balanced tannins to keep the flavors complex.  This wine, while delicious now, will benefit from a few more years in the cellar. Try with your favorite lamb dish or roast duck
